If you liked 1975 then you'll love this place!!! I think most people go here because of what they or their parents remember rather than what it is today. Today it is just an average restaurant with a great view of the river. I had the perch and it was ok, but certainly not the best I've ever had. Service was sub par (I think some of the staff has been there since 1975). The view makes it though and I would go back just for that.

Hadn't been there in a long time and was saddened to see it lost a lot of its class. Busy lunch crowd, they filled up quickly. Food was OK but nothing special. Lunch was a piece of salmon and an ice cream scoop mound of potatoes. If you didn't want the potatoes, the vegetable option for the day was corn on the cob. Seriously? So that was my plate. No salad, no soup, no nothing. A piece of fish and a blob of garlicky mashed potatoes. $15.99. Outrageous! View of the river is great, parking lot is close to the building. It was good they had separate entrances for the bar, bowling alley, and dining area.

Thursday night, around 7, place was empty, or almost. Atmosphere was so bad, other than the river (which when busy would be fun to watch), we ordered fast and got out of there. People were friendly, just really no charm at all. Food mediocre. If you end up in the marina overnight (which we did), take the complimentary shuttle up to Charlie's Crab, you'll be happy.

I had the opportunity to be in the saint Claire area 3 times in the last 2 months. I noticed the green awning that said rib eye steaks. The first time I was in a hurry and needed to get to Western Oakland County so was not able to stop. I recall saying to a friend in the car with me that day "I like rib eye steaks", as she reminded me I did not have time for one. The second time thru did not stop but now the anticipation was growing. So, long story short is I went to the Marine City Maritime festival on Saturday afternoon. Now I could have eaten at any of the restaurants in town or got some ribs and sausage from a vendor who was grilling at the event. I suggested we go up to Saint Clair to the "rib eye steak place". The place was packed. It was a beautiful summer evening. The views from every seat is outstanding. Watching the freighters pass by, the pleasure boats and jet skis and everything made for a nice atmosphere. For starters I had a cup of clam chowder and a house salad. The salad was good nothing special but seemed fresh. The chowder had a nice consistency but lacked flavor. It was mostly potatoes and only a few small pieces of clam. Next came the oysters Rockefeller. I thought they seemed a bit pricy when I saw them on the menu but when the plate arrived and there were six instead of the typical 3, I was a bit impressed. Until I dug into them. They were so small you could barely taste any actual oyster at all...just cheese and spinach. None of this would have mattered all that much if I got a good steak. I ordered the rib eye. It had a bourbon mushroom sauce on top, not bad. I did not want it to be undercooked I ordered the steak medium/medium rare only because most restaurants medium still has a red center. I find I can go a bit more rare on a new your strip than a rib eye. Mine was medium well...a bit over done for my taste. It came with the smallest baked potato I ever saw. Green beans were good. So overall the meal was just O.K. it was not bad but nothing stood out as being great either. The service was horrible. We got pawned off from one waitress to another half way into our ordering and the one we ended up with apparently was busy at the other end of the restaurant and paid us very little attention. So overall it was a nice place to go and watch the boats go bye but the food and service were not very good at all. Too bad...could have been a nice place to frequent. Sorry folks on two stars. Ya gotta do more than write the check for a nice lot on the river if you want to have a world class place.

This was one of my parents favorite places to dine. It was always so much fun to come to St.Clair with my folks and have lunch or dinner at the Voyageur and watch the boats and freighters go past. Today I relive those memories every time I dine there. I have always enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience.

Page the hostess is the shining star of this group. watch out for Lora the bartender/server for us! alot of times the defaults in personal choices of food can be overlooked with a smile and sorry you not like answer. here! "90 % of the people like it that way" was her response! guess this 10% dont count! i did approach the manager b4 leaving just to let him know that sometimes that answer is a bit condesending to elderly folks like me who just want to try to enjoy their day (everyone has a tough day) well, here! i know where Lora was trained! his answer was "90 % of our customers are elderly!" at least i know where i stand in this venue! 10%! AND food -- shall i say -- 90% bad -- 10% good -- go figure !

I've been eating here with my parents ever since I've been a kid, and always found the food and atmosphere pretty good. The main draw is the scenery--if watching freighters chug up the river is scenery-I personally love to watch them. I've always enjoyed their simple "American" food menu, such as the crab cakes, clam chowder and club sandwiches. I always seem to be the youngest person eating there-looking over the vast sea of cotton heads. And I swear they've had the same waitresses for the past 30 years! So after your meal you can stroll the boardwalk, sit and watch boats or cross the road to do some shopping, get some ice cream, or drive south to nearby Marine City where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the various antique stores. Cripes, this is sounding more like a travelogue than a restaurant review!

I've been at The Voyageur for lunch at least once every winter for the past 9 years. Part restaurant/bar/bowling alley-anyone from St Clair likely frequents this place on the regular. The restaurant/bar offer a fantastic view of the water/freighters/neighbors to the north- though from here I guess they are technically neighbors to the East? The food is decent - they have a variety of seafood options, though it doesn't seem like any of it is actually local catch. Service is pretty decent, in an old-school kind of way. All around, it's a decent stop-in if for no other reason than the view :)

This is a seafood place, I was not expecting a lot being a vegetarian. But I was pleasantly surprised. Although they only had one vegetarian option, it was great. They have the best pasta primavera in the thumb of Michigan. They also have a nice view.

Went to lunch here on a recent visit. Food may be decent, but I had an interesting experience. Decided to try the hot turkey club, just to be different from a regular club. The good - lots of fresh turkey breast, and not the luncheon meat type. Real white meat turkey breast. The bad - wasn't much of a club, no lettuce or tomato, just turkey, bacon, and cheese. Appeared to have been grilled like a patty melt. As I was eating it, I kept thinking something is different about this. Suddenly realized what the problem was, and told the waitress. She told me it should have been made differently and that she would check with the kitchen about that. Then she comes back with the bill, without another word about it. WTF? Oh well, so much for customer service.

I guess I am sort of bias to this review because my friends and I know the owner and he hooks us up with drinks a lot of the times we come in. This place is a bar / restaurant / bowling alley all in one right on the St. Clair River. I've never bowled there but that portion of the business does bring in a lot of folks, both old and young. The bar itself was absolutely packed over Thanksgiving and is just about each time I stumble in there, maybe not so much during the week and non holiday weekends but regardless there is a steady stream of people here. Now what you wouldn't know about The Voyageur is that there is a really nice restaurant on the back side of the bowling alley. Its a completely different character. Its a place to bring dates, its one of the only nice all around restaurants in town. The food is really good, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've been here for every one. I suggest you take a little drive around Saint Clair and look at your options. My guess is that you'll end up at the Voyageur. Great small town "entertainment complex"....ha.

It was a cold, windy day when we went but the river view was still beautiful from our table. The service was very good. Our Waitress, Kim didn't let our glasses go empty and was always around if we needed something. There Clam chowder was awesome, a little spicy which I found unusual but good nevertheless.

So my mother in law really loves this place, she mentions it all the time. So for Mother's Day her I made reservations for her, my sister in law and I. Good thing we did when got there it was packed. But we gave them my name and got taken to our table. The place was very nice, decor was beautiful the scenery was breath taking. Since it was Mother's Day they served up a dinner buffet, salad/soup station and dessert bar. All 3 of us agreed he food was pretty good, very filling. My SIL & I agreed the chicken Marsala was pretty tough. However we loved the perch, I've never had perch before. The service was pleasant our waitress was very attentive, polite and fast. The only things I saw that was iffy was the soup station was very disorganized and messy and the bathrooms as well but I took into consideration in was Mother's Day, packed and my MIL did mention it normally isn't packed. We definitely will be going back once it gets warmer, we'd love to dine outside by the water.
